12/19/2013––This week, the members of Raleigh wake squadron were shocked and saddened to hear about the death of Sgt. Chris Bohler. Sgt. Bohler was the son of Major Pete Bohler, Jr the Vice Commander of our squadron.

Sgt Bohler was serving our country in the United States Army as a crew Chief on a Blackhawk helicopter in Afghanistan, in support of the United States military operation there, when his helicopter went down killing 6 members of the United States military. Currently, no reason for the accident has been issued, as it is still under investigation.

As many of you know, Chris was continuing a proud tradition of service to the country reaching all the way back to World War 1. Our own Major Bohler retired from the US Army after over 20 years of active duty at the rank of 1st. Sgt.

Major Bohler’s pride in his son’s service to the country was evident to everyone who interacted with Pete. There were countless stories and pictures almost weekly, and we all were happy to share in the successes that Chris had in his military career.

Please find a few minutes to reach out to Major Bohler when you next see him to let him know that we, along with his family, grieve for the loss of a great patriot, and that we hold Pete and his family in our collective arms as they move forward.
