Orange County Squadron celebrates cadets’ achievements

8/6/2015–– On Thursday, August 6, 2015, the Orange County Composite Squadron celebrated a number of cadet achievements.

The evening began with the induction of four new cadets by the recitation of their cadet oaths.  The new cadet inductees were warmly welcomed into the squadron.  New Senior Member, Heidi Mize, and returning Senior Member, Greg Ernandes, were also welcomed into the squadron.

The Squadron Commander, Capt Ron Watkins, then presented C/CMSgt Daniel Ham with the squadron’s Cadet of the Quarter Award certificate and coin for his outstanding achievements in the April-June 2015 quarter.

Cadet promotions then followed:  cadet Cameron Albert was promoted to C/SrA; cadet Taylor Balog was promoted to C/TSgt and cadet Abigail Ham was promoted to C/CMSgt.

A highlight of the evening was the sharing of photos and adventures by the squadron cadets who attended the NCWG 2015 Summer Encampment.  Cadets Taylor Balog, Hunter Balog and Lucas Todd were presented with Encampment ribbons for their attendance at their first Encampment.  In addition, C/Amn Lucas Todd was presented with a Marksmanship certificate in recognition of his outstanding shooting at Encampment.

The evening culminated with a celebration of C/2dLt David Ham’s enlistment in the U.S. Army Ranger program.  Capt Ron Watkins presented Lt Ham with a Certificate of Appreciation and thanked him for his many years of leadership and service to the squadron.  The ceremony was followed by a delightful party and celebration.

The Orange County Composite Squadron wishes C/Lt Ham all the best as he leaves for the Army’s Ranger program.  We hope his CAP Ranger and Ground Team training serves him well.
