NC137 receives Aerospace Education Excellence Award in 2015.

Climbing to a new altitude in Aerospace Education.

9/23/2015–Captain Gene Merklein, Aerospace Education Officer (AEO) presented the Aerospace Education Excellence Award (2014-2015) to Major Jeff Focke, Commander of the South Piedmont Senior Squadron NC137 on 23rd Sept 2015, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars building.

 
In accordance to the National’s Aerospace Education website, “This award is presented to units that participate in an activity-based voluntary aerospace education program, CAP's Aerospace Education Excellence (AEX) Award Program. The unit AEO or the unit commander enroll in the program and ensure cadets or senior members participate in six aerospace activities and an additional two-hour activity (such as building and launching rockets or taking a field trip to an airport or air/space museum). When the program is completed, the senior member who enrolled in the program completes the award report, located in eServices. Reports are submitted to National Headquarters. Units completing the requirements are presented with a commemorative plaque and participants receive an AEX certificate. 
 
Conducting these activities foster group interaction and socialization, and can generate great excitement for aerospace education within the unit". Click for more information about CAP's AEX Program.
Certificates were also given to those participants who completed the program. Those individuals were: Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Croswhite, Lieutenant Colonel Steven T. “Tom” Schick, Major Jeff Focke, Captain Terence Gordon and Captain Gene Merklein.
