Winston-Salem event a big success

10/16/2017––For the second year in a row, the NC Wing of the Civil Air Patrol ran a recruiting booth at the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem. Running from September 29th through Oct 8th, the Dixie Classic Fair is the second largest fair in North Carolina.

NC-082 (Winston-Salem Composite Squadron) hosted the booth as a NC Wing recruiting event, having gained much experience from running a similar booth last year with the Sugar Valley Composite Squadron. "We met fair goers from three states this year. “Everything is different this year, including our expectations,” NC-082 Recruiting and Retention Officer 1st Lt Omar Khouri reasoned. “We learned who we can expect to attract and just what we need to explain to gain interest in our organization.”

The event helped the squadron determine that what was needed was an Open House. So NC-082 is hosting an Open House on October 19th, a mere eleven days after the end of the fair. It will be held at the Carolina Air and Auto Center, Smith Reynolds Airport, during the squadron's regular meeting.

Thanks to the participants of NC-082 for manning the recruiting booth at the Dixie Classic Fair.
