Franklin County Composite Squadron leads training for new orientation glider pilots

5/15/2018––The NC Wing's cadet glider program, under the direction of Maj Ricky Jones, is strong. The Franklin County Composite Squadron (NC-145) is working to make it even stronger with the training of additional Senior Members as orientation glider pilots.

Thanks go to 1st Lt Anthony Integlia of NC-145 who is coordinating the training effort and to Capt John Styers, CFI-G, for training the glider pilots to be.

The program started with powered fixed-wing commercial pilots and NC-145 plans to provide a supply of commercial glider pilots to the cadet glider program.

In the first week since inception, the program launched a total of 18 glider flights, including 1st Lt Tim Suttles accomplishing his first solo glider flight. During the second week, the senior program launched 9 glider flights and is well on the way to producing high quality safety-conscious glider pilots for our cadet glider program.
